Extract ZIP: help & limits
How to use
- Choose a ZIP from a source you trust.
- Choose Extract files. Each file is checked for integrity.
- Download individual files from the result list.
Examples
- Retrieve a particular photo from a ZIP shared by a colleague.
- Open a small project archive and download its README without installing an archive app.
Supported files and limitations
Supports Store and Deflate ZIPs with ASCII or UTF-8 names. Passwords, ZIP64, split archives, symbolic links, and other compression methods are unsupported. Downloads flatten folders and number matching basenames. No file preview, virus scan, or nested archive extraction is performed.
Processing stops after 60 seconds. Files and results are held in memory; even within these limits, a low-memory device may fail. Cancel and retry with fewer or smaller files.
Privacy
Files, names, and extracted contents stay in browser memory. A local worker packages or expands bytes. Reset ends processing and releases file references; it does not securely erase device memory. File contents are not uploaded and there is no server fallback. Website and account traffic is separate from file processing. Downloads remain wherever you save them.
How local processing worksWhere do extracted files go?
They stay in browser memory until you download them. Your browser controls the download location. Reqly does not write archive paths to your filesystem.
Why was my ZIP rejected?
Damaged data, unsafe paths, duplicate paths, unsupported encryption, or expanded files exceeding 128 MiB will stop extraction. Try an ordinary, unencrypted ZIP from a trusted source.
