PNG to JPG: help & limits

Make a JPG when an upload form or older application does not accept PNG. Select a still PNG and Reqly creates the JPEG automatically at the same decoded dimensions. Transparent areas are filled with white. Photographs may become smaller, while diagrams and small text can show compression changes, so inspect the result before using it.

How to use

1. Choose a still PNG within the displayed limits. Animated PNG is rejected.
2. Review the automatically generated JPG, especially transparent edges, small text and thin lines.
3. Download the JPG. Keep the original PNG if you need its transparency or want to avoid lossy encoding.

Supported files

Still PNG · Up to 64 MiB · 64 megapixels. One image at a time. Maximum 16,384 pixels per edge and 128 MiB output.

How it works

A local worker decodes the PNG, draws a white background behind its pixels and encodes JPEG at quality 92. The resulting signature and dimensions are verified before a download is offered. Reported file-size change comes from measured bytes, not a predicted compression ratio.

Limitations

• JPEG cannot store transparency. This converter uses white rather than removing or recoloring an opaque background.
• JPEG encoding is lossy; fine text and flat graphics may show artifacts. A smaller output is not guaranteed.
• Animated PNG is unsupported. Embedded metadata and exact color-profile behavior may change during re-encoding.

Privacy

PNG decoding, white-background composition and JPEG encoding happen on your device. Neither the source image nor the output is uploaded, and Reqly does not store the file between visits. Reset clears the references and temporary preview URLs held by the tool.
