WebP to PNG: help & limits

Convert a still WebP image to PNG when your next editing tool, document, or upload form needs that format. Transparent areas can remain transparent, and the image keeps its pixel dimensions. Choose a file, check the result against the original details, and download the PNG without sending your image to a server.

How to use

1. Choose a still WebP image within the displayed limits.
2. Conversion starts automatically. Inspect the preview, especially transparent edges.
3. Download the PNG and compare its file size with the original.

Supported files

Still WebP · Up to 64 MiB · 64 megapixels. One image at a time. Maximum 16,384 pixels per edge and 128 MiB output.

How it works

Your browser decodes the WebP into pixels and encodes them as PNG. PNG avoids further lossy compression of those decoded pixels, but it cannot restore detail previously lost when the WebP was created.

Examples

Limitations

• Animated WebP is rejected rather than silently reduced to one frame.
• PNG output can be substantially larger. Conversion cannot sharpen an already blurry source.
• At most 16,384 pixels per edge. Low-memory devices can fail below the stated limits. Embedded metadata and exact color-profile behavior are not preserved as a guarantee.

Privacy

The browser decodes your WebP and creates the PNG on your device. Reqly does not fetch an image from a URL or send the selected file to another website.
